In my opinion, the government owes us LESS INTRUSION INTO OUR LIVES, especially when it involves SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I believe the government owes equal rights to gays. GAY MARRIAGE SHOULD BE LEGALIZED!

I found this site very interesting as I too was suprised at how many times I saw on the news the attitude of "I am owed this because this happened" In my personal opinion the government does not owe you anything, nor you it.

The comment from the Baton Rouge person is just as ignorant as the guy who 'deserves' a house and 20K. Everyone in this area is always looking for what they are 'owed' for breathing the air and gracing us all with their wonderful spirits. Stop looking for handouts and start living and dealing with life.

Being from Baton Rouge, I have often asked myself what I get out of having to deal the enormous influx of people taking over my city. I have always enjoyed the small-big city atmosphere Baton Rouge offered, and the adjustment of sitting in traffic for 45 minutes to get somewhere that normally took 20, was not a welcome one. I think it is a great idea to explore how much the government actually owes us. And when I say us, I include those of us who have indirectly affected by the Hurricanes, not just those who lost something.
