An interesting comparison to Katrina is the 1927 Mississippi River flood. The John M. Barry book, "RISING TIDE,THE GREAT MISSISSIPPI FLOOD OF 1927 AND HOW IT CHANGED AMERICA," offers engineering failures, class and racial politics, sociological problems, intrigue, incompentence, and rebuilding. I heard on the news that...</title><content type='html'>Very interesting reading. I heard on the news that a contractor bid $1.8 billion to rebuild the "Fisher" (s.p.) Public Housing Projects on the West Bank of the City of New Orleans. I've heard that the Fisher Projects was one of the worst public housing projects in the country. Why would they want to do this and why would the people of New Orleans want this? I heard later in the broadcast that this contractor (HUD) will build a community with stores, police departments, public facilities, parks, and not just housing.
