I live in Houston where quite a few of the low income residents were bused. They were put into the Astrodome at first but rather quickly moved out. Most left willingly by either finding an apartment or hotel to stay for an extended period of time. I can not say for sure but I have a feeling they don't plan on returning. For one how would they get back considering most have no transportation and why would they want to. They had very little when they lived there and most have nothing to go back to. I feel New Orleans can rebuild. Not to be mean but it is probably for the best if you're looking at it from the New Orleans stand point. They have rid the city of A LOT of the gangs and criminals who have been sent else where and really have no way of returning. It can be a time of regrowth, sad to say at the expense of other cities. Only time will tell.

This appears to be an excellent way for the govern...

This appears to be an excellent way for the government to bail out the lending agencies and enrich speculators who will buy the land. "get rid of low-income residents who are not property owners" is not the motivation here, because many of the people who own property in the 9th Ward are landlords. They'll continue to rent. The CBC's fear is that landlords won't want to rent to black tenants.

Thoughtful post. You write that the CBC is worried that the bill will allow a corporation to "get rid of low-income residents who are not property owners." But does that mean ones who still live on-site now?
